Overview

This Aisle Containement System include Hot Air Containment (HAC) and Cold Air Containment(CAC). Hot and cold aisle in common consideration for data center. Closed roof plate install in the top of hot aisle/cold aisle to make the area closed. From the point of the whole room air distribution, closed aislephysically isolated hot and cold air,effectively minimize the hot and cold air mixing within IT environment,reduce the waste of hot and cold air, and maxmize cooling efficiency.This containment minimizes the hot and cold air mixing within the IT environment.

 

Aisle Containment Features:

  • Intelligent Fire Safe System      Alerts personnel and drops ceiling panels based on temperature to enable fire suppressions system in the room to extinguish the fire.Once fire signal alarm in room, the top plate will open automatically,and fire extinguishing gases can enter the aisle. 
  • Efficiency & Flexibility               Increases the capacity of the air conditioner by supplying a warmer return air temperature.It supports for varying aisle widths,rack heights, rack depths, and single rows. Supports hot and cold aisle containment.
  • Automatical Door Structure    One-way locking door or safe slide doors secures the hot aisle while allowing for quick exit in case of emergency,the sliding door can be closed automatically,can be installed door access system and can be opened from inside to outside if an emergency occurs.

In hot aisle containment systems (HAC), the "hot aisle" is enclosed and cold air is supplied into the enclosure from outside. The hot exhaust air is either routed to the return of an in-row cooling unit (IRC) or allowed to flow upward from within the enclosure into the air conditioning return and away from the equipment via physical barriers and custom ducts. With HAC, the area outside the enclosure is the "cold aisle",  where personnel may more commonly travel. When work needs to be done on the power inputs of the equipment, personnel may have special restrictions to work in the hot aisle contained area. Additionally, this solution may require more custom duct work and can be a little more expensive than CAC systems. On the other hand, HAC is generally understood to be more efficient as it allows for higher return air set temperatures for the air conditioning system.

 

In cold aisle containment systems (CAC), the "cold aisle" is enclosed and cold air is supplied from within the enclosure. The hot exhaust air is expelled from the enclosure into the surrounding environment. A major benefit of this solution is that it is often easier to retrofit into existing data centers, especially on raised floors. It requires less custom duct work since the exhaust air is supplied outside of the enclosure and not returned directly into the AC unit. However, another consideration is that the area outside of the enclosure can get warm quickly so data center operators generally need to set the supply air to a temperature that is cooler than desired for efficient operation.

Aisle Containment Benefits:

  • Eliminate Hot & Cold Air Mixing    Aisle containment encloses either the cold aisle or the hot aisle reducing the amount of space to be cooled and preventing the mixing of hot and cold air.

  • Increase Energy Savings      Increasing supply air and water temperature setpoints can make protecting sensitive equipment more efficient and cost-effective.
  • Improve Airflow management  Improving airflow will eliminate hotspots and improve the overall cooling potential of data center air conditioning units.

  • Rack-Based Frame  The containment frame is built around your existing server rack environment.
  • Freestanding Frame  The containment frame is not dependent on the existing server rack environment. Quickest deployment of our three frame options. You can build the frame first and then put server racks and cabinets in afterwards.

3. Roof Options:
  • Drop Away Roof Panels   In the event of a fire, the roof panels soften and drop away to allow for unobstructed sprinkler coverage. Designed for quick installation and toolless mounting. They utilize velcro for installation into the enclosure.

  • Tilt Window Roof Panels   In the event of a fire, these roof panels tilt to allow unobstructed sprinkler coverage. Designed for quick installation with an electromagnetic lock controlling the tilt of the panels. Available in single or split tilt configurations depending on spacing requirements of the data center environment.

4. Chimney Options
  • Extendable Chimney   Our vertical exhaust duct (VED) extendable chimney attaches to the top of an 800mm wide server cabinet and provides a sealed pathway for hot exhaust air to flow from the top of the cabinet into an overhead drop ceiling as part of a closed hot air return. 
  • Chimney Passthrough   Our vertical exhaust duct (VED) chimney passthrough attaches to the base of our extendable chimney and has two brushes enabling efficient cable and power cord passthrough.
